Home of endangered wildlife
Pantanal is home to the hyacinth macaw, jaguar and giant river otter. All of these beautiful animals are endangered. Some contributing factors are human encroachment, hunting, logging, and mercury poisoning. Although it is illegal to collect the hyacinth macaw, they are still highly prized by poachers. The birds fetch an astronomical price on the black market. Some contries such as Costa Rica are fighting habitat loss by promoting eco-tourism. Eco-tourism is an answer to habitat loss and an economic boo, so come see these birds and travel to Pantanal! |
